On September 30, 2017, UNICOM has signed a definitive agreement with IBM Corp. to be an early recipient of the IBM z14 mainframe to be installed at UNICOM Technology Park I & II Innovation and R&D Labs in Chantilly, Virginia. This will serve as a hub for the best and brightest of today’s technology visionaries to create and develop in a collaborative environment. In conjunction with these developments in Virginia, UNICOM has created the Technology Intern Partnership ("TIP"). This program provides a gateway for young entrepreneurs to gain exposure to the latest in technology. The idea of guiding young entrepreneurs is an integral part of UNICOM’s commitment to changing the way we view technology for years to come.

With the IBM z14 mainframe, UNICOM plans to pioneer new methods of utilizing Digital Transformation Technologies that links legacy enterprise applications to Mobile Computing, Blockchain Technology, Voice & Face Recognition Technology, Machine learning, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence.
