Read more about rack integrationUNICOM Engineering operates global manufacturing sites and can adjust production to meet any volume requirements. Our skilled technicians build a wide range of systems, allowing customers to use multiple locations to meet production goals and reduce risk. We provide OEM customers with manufacturing expertise and application deployment services.
UNICOM Engineering uses control systems to automate manufacturing processes at all stations to ensure consistent and reliable production for high and low-volume products. This helps maintain operational flexibility, produce high-quality products, and meet all customer needs. Quality checkpoints and a flexible ERP system help streamline manufacturing cycles and expedite time-to-market. The integrated control systems, tools, and processes provide a significant service advantage, offering customers a comprehensive system build plan and aiding service technicians in troubleshooting.
UNICOM Engineering's Integration Control Systems
The diagrams show the systems used to ensure a fully integrated, repeatable build:
Our quality control processes help to streamline manufacturing cycles and extend the product's lifespan. These controls are consistently applied across all manufacturing sites and stations to ensure consistent and repeatable production. As a result, UNICOM Engineering is better able to maintain operational flexibility, produce higher-quality products, and meet all aspects of our customer's needs, including reliability and cost management.
UNICOM Engineering uses eQProfiler and FactoryTalk software to ensure that each stage of the manufacturing process matches the exact build requirements (see Figure 2). These tools offer control and quality checkpoints for specific SKUs during manufacturing to ensure that the correct parts are installed and electronically verified before moving on to downstream installation or test stations. Real-time tracking and control are used in all assembly stages to eliminate errors and deliver the best possible quality products to our customers.
UNICOM Engineering’s Manufacturing Process
Our manufacturing process is designed to accelerate product development, eliminate errors, and document lifecycle control processes:
UNICOM Engineering is committed to ensuring quality workmanship by strictly adhering to ISO 27001, ISO 9001:2015, TL 9000 Rev. 5.5, and ISO 14001. Our entire staff is trained and certified under these standards to ensure consistent, high-quality production and on-time delivery of goods and services. We follow these processes to guarantee customers the highest quality workmanship and compliance with global regulations. Additionally, we engage third-party auditors to ensure a proactive and organized approach to maintaining best-in-class business processes. We explicitly manage TL 9000 compliance for customers requiring telecommunications quality standards.
UNICOM Engineering's quality assurance engineers consistently review in-house data and performance trends in the field (refer to Figure 3) to identify the root causes and promote ongoing improvements. Customers have access to monthly SKU-specific quality reports through UNICOM Engineering's customer portal. These reports provide data summaries, Pareto charts, and detailed tables that allow for the identification and grouping of failures by product or workstation.

UNICOM Engineering's Top 10 Systems Pareto Report Example
This is an example of a WIP analysis report depicting the top Pareto of failures over a given period and what areas in the test they failed. We then define action plans to determine the root and at what point in the examination they failed:
UNICOM Engineering provides top-tier rack and frame-level design and integration services in the USA and Ireland. We offer comprehensive services, including design, verification, assembly, testing, and shipping. Our scalable services support various volume deployments and high-mix architectures. Service fees are customized based on specific requirements outlined in a statement of work.
UNICOM Engineering starts by documenting requirements at the beginning of the design process. These requirements are later converted into detailed work and test instructions to ensure consistent builds. In the mechanical build phase, the team assembles the rack and integrates essential components. Cables are routed and identified based on customer requirements, and the integrated rack undergoes performance and functionality testing. Once fully integrated, the rack is shipped in custom packaging for local installation and operation.
In carrier environments like Telco central offices, unique requirements beyond enterprise rack-level design and integration are addressed. For solutions deployed in these environments, the frame-level design starts with a NEBS-compliant frame optimized for thermal profiles and ventilation. Thermal testing is carried out to enhance stress testing.
UNICOM Engineering can conduct elevated temperature testing for design validation and production. Systems undergo testing in a thermal chamber at temperature profiles ranging from -67° to 131° F (-55° to +55° C) to ensure they meet carrier and service provider deployment requirements.
